Does anyone ever get to end of lists?
We're going on holiday at the beginning of September which is very exciting. The idea of going on holiday just when everyone seems to be coming back and activities all start up again is fantastic. The only thing is, we've got loads of stuff that we need / would like to get done before we go and the list is still growing rather than getting shorter.
That's the thing about lists... It's incredibly satisfying to cross things off but how many times do we ever cross everything off it? Everything always takes twice as long as it should and there's always something that gets shelved, earmarked for that time called 'later'. What's worse is that I've currently got three separate lists: one for work, one for home and one for church and my head's in a bit of a spin.
Part of the reason we want to get so much done is so that we can go on holiday with nothing on our minds and nothing to worry about. As far as work goes, I'd love to come back from hols with only new things to start and not old things to finish (or to have to field any phone calls from work). But at this rate, we're going to go on holiday exhausted and spend the entire time recovering anyway...
Perhaps we just need to learn to relax even though we've not come to end of our lists. There's always more we should / could do.
Certainly something for me to think about (but not on holiday).
