Accidents and illnesses...

It's been an interesting last couple of weeks...

Two Saturday's ago, I took Isaac swimming in the morning as it's been a while since he'd been. Deb, being not too keen on the whole getting wet then getting changed thing, decided that a shopping trip to Waitrose over the road would be far more fun.

No sooner had we got in the pool when Isaac started pointing at the slide and nodding his head and going 'Uh' (we're hoping this will soon be replaced with "Daddy, could you please take me over to the slide"). Not wanting to chuck Isaac down the slide and leave him to fend for himself at the bottom, I decided it'd be fun to go down with him.

Well... the pool was a little shallower than anticipated and I ended up hitting the bottom of the pool very hard with an impact that's making me wince as I type. Of course, I got up pretending nothing had happened and tried to forget about the fact I could hardly walk. Rapidly realising I wasn't doing a good job of forgetting about it, I started to feel quite light headed and wandered over to a lifeguard, gave Isaac to him and promptly fainted.

I woke up sitting by the side of the pool with a kind lady asking me if I'd had my insulin shot. Took me a while to get out the words that I wasn't diabetic but not sure she believed me even when I did.

To cut a long story short, I made the mistake of saying my neck hurt a little bit so some poor guy who worked for the swimming pool stood there holding my neck in place while someone else called 999. Seeing a personal injury claim flashing before their eyes, the pool were taking no risks! Deb was summoned from Waitrose just as she was hoping to sit down for a quiet coffee and she came and dressed Isaac who was being as good as gold and doing his penguin impression to try and help me take my mind off it.

So, a Saturday morning trip to BRI in my swimming shorts with one paramedic who recognised me from church and another who I went to school with! Needless to say, no permanent damage done bar a little to my pride!

Now the illnesses bit...

Deb came down with very severe tonsilitus (is that anywhere near how you spell it?). This resulted in her not eating, talking or sleeping much for 3 days and I never realised that anyone would ever need 7 different types of pills for anything, let alone tonsilitis (spelling any better?). Fortunately, Deb's very much recovered now and gradually reintroduced herself to Isaac who was probably wondering where she'd gone.

We're all wondering what's next...
